Zambia Elected Vice President on UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board for 2026

‎The Republic of Zambia has been elected as the Vice President of the Executive Board for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) for 2026. 

‎The country's representation is led by Dr. Chola Milambo, Zambia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, whose nomination received backing from the Africa Group at the UN Headquarters in New York. Dr. Milambo will be one of four Vice Presidents in the Executive Board Bureau, representing the regional groups of the UN under the leadership of the Eastern European Group. 

‎The Executive Board for UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS is tasked with governance and oversight, ensuring efficient implementation of the agencies' missions while fostering good governance, accountability, and effective management.

‎ In addition to this new role, Dr. Milambo will continue his duties as Zambia’s Permanent Representative. Upon accepting the Vice Presidency, Ambassador Milambo expressed his appreciation to the Africa Group for their support and for allowing Zambia to represent the region's interests on the Executive Board.
