THREE DIE IN MUSAYA BRIDGE TRUCK COLLISION
Two drivers and a passenger have died in a collision involving three trucks at Musaya Bridge along the Chirundu-Kafue Road near Malengo area.
The accident occurred around 14:30 hours on 18th March 2026, with all trucks travelling in the same direction.
One of the deceased, who was driving a Freightliner truck and trailer, registration numbers ACQ 4755 and AEU 7056, has been identified as 45-year-old Washington Muzowa, of Harare, Zimbabwe.
He is reported to have sustained serious head injuries and later died while admitted to Mtendere Mission Hospital.
The other deceased driver, who was in a Shacman tanker truck and trailer, registration numbers AIE 2294 and ALM 6663, remained unidentified at broadcast, with his yet to be identified passenger also dying from the accident.
Meanwhile, 51-year-old Kainzi Kanyera of Bindura Haulage Company in Zimbabwe, escaped unhurt.
Initial findings suggest the accident occurred when the unhurt driver stopped suddenly.
In the process, the Freightliner truck, which was following, collided into it.
Subsequently, the Shacman tanker truck, which was at the rear, then failed to stop in time and rammed into the Freightliner truck and veered off the road, finally plunging into Musaya Bridge.
Police Public Relations Officer, Godfrey Chilabi, notes that the remains of all victims are deposited at Mtendere Mission Hospital.
He has further appealed to the public who may have information that could assist in identifying the other victims to come forward.
