Rufunsa Schools Gets 83 Boxes of Cooking oil.
Rufunsa District Commissioner Richard Mabena said the consignment, handed over to schools across the district, comprised 83 boxes, with each box containing four 5-litre containers of cooking oil.
“We are grateful for the provision of the cooking oil by the Government to support the school feeding programme,” he said.
Mr Mabena said Government had also provided 1,000 sachets of fresh milk to Early Childhood Education (ECE) learners during the last term.
He said the interventions demonstrated Government’s commitment to improving the welfare and learning conditions of learners.
Mr Mabena further appealed to stakeholders to complement Government’s efforts in supporting the school feeding programme.
“Government cannot do everything alone and therefore, I appeal to organisations, companies, NGOs, churches, businesses and well-wishers to come on board and support our schools,” Mr Mabena said.
And Rufunsa District Education Board Secretary Damian Milimo commended Government for its continued support towards the school feeding programme.
Mr Milimo said the provision of cooking oil was another demonstration of Government’s commitment to ensuring that learners were adequately supported.
“We understand that feeding our learners is an important part of improving education outcomes and we therefore, appreciate the efforts being made to ensure that schools receive the necessary support to implement this programme,” Mr Milimo said.
Meanwhile, Mr Mabena commended teachers in Rufunsa District for their role in conducting the August 13 general elections.
He said the teachers conducted themselves professionally, resulting in the elections being held in a free and transparent manner.
