STUDENTS HAIL HICHILEMA’S RE-ELECTION

Students from various learning institutions have celebrated President Hakainde Hichilema’s victory in the just-ended general election, describing his re-election as a sign of confidence in his leadership.

The celebrations were reported at several colleges and universities, where students stayed up late to follow the announcement of the election results.

University of Zambia Students Union (UNZASU) President Kabaso Mwanto said the victory reflected students’ confidence in President Hichilema’s leadership. Mr. Mwanto said the President had addressed most of the concerns raised by students, contributing to their support during the election.

Meanwhile, Lusaka resident Bertha Mwanza said government policies and economic gains had contributed to President Hichilema’s victory.

Another resident, Fredrick Phiri, said he remained confident the President would perform even better during his second term.

The celebrations highlight the reaction among students and residents following President Hichilema’s re-election.
