Optica Zambia has officially inaugurated its first two retail stores in Lusaka Zambia, located at Arcades Shopping Mall and Lewanika Mall.
This expansion marks a significant milestone for the company, which has established a commendable reputation in optical retail with 93 stores across Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda, over the past 66 years.
Optica Zambia’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Raghav Moudgill, emphasized that the company’s entry into the Zambian market represents a key step towards its mission of delivering globally recognized optical services to diverse communities within Africa.
Mr. Moudgill echoed Optica’s commitment to providing exceptional vision care services supported by high-quality eye testing equipment and qualified personnel.
He says the goal is to offer quality products at affordable prices, coupled with a customer experience that is comparable to any global standard.
Speaking during the grand opening of the two stores, Mr. Moudgill highlighted that Optica provides a wide array of products, including optical frames custom-designed to accommodate the unique features of the African face for enhanced comfort.
He notes that the frames cater to various budget ranges, starting at just K240, with complete spectacles available from K490, adding that, each pair of lenses is fitted accurately using state-of-the-art patternless edging technology.
Mr. Moudgill stated that the company employs qualified optometrists at every location and utilizes the latest eye-testing equipment to ensure customers receive the highest quality eye care services.
He also indicated that Optica is committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, with plans to send dedicated teams into communities to offer free eye check-ups, thus facilitating access to quality eyewear at affordable prices.
Mr. Moudgill pointed out that Optica has identified a significant opportunity within the Zambian market, where current options for optical care are limited and often prohibitively expensive for many individuals.
He urges the public to prioritize regular eye check-ups twice a year and to seek assistance from qualified optometrists.
For individuals who spend extended hours using digital devices such as computers, laptops, and mobile phones, Mr. Moudgill recommended the use of anti-glare lenses and also introduced the innovative blue-block lenses, designed to minimize glare and enhance visual comfort.
Mr. Moudgill emphasized the importance of taking regular breaks while working to protect one's eyesight, suggesting that looking at distant objects intermittently can be beneficial.
Established in 1959, Optica Limited has grown to become the largest optical company in East and Central Africa, with 84 retail outlets in Kenya, five in Uganda, two in Rwanda, and now two in Zambia.
