Ndola Content Creator Arrested Over TikTok Remarks About Truck Drivers

Police in Ndola have arrested a 24-year-old woman in connection with "Harassment Utilising Means of Electronic Communication," following a complaint from the Truck Drivers Association of Zambia.

According to a statement issued by Copperbelt Division Commissioner of Police Rae Hamoonga, the matter was reported at Masala Police Station on September 16 at about 16:30 hours by Prince Kasongo, 34, of Kenani Villa, Kaloko Compound. Mr. Kasongo, a trustee of the association, reported on its behalf.

The statement says Mr. Kasongo was browsing social media on September 15 when he came across a TikTok post by a content creator identified as "Nana Babe." He alleged that the post accused truck drivers of stealing fuel, receiving low salaries and not maintaining proper personal hygiene, and that it caused emotional distress among members of the truck driving community.

Police identified the creator, who was known to the complainant, as Natasha Nambeya, 24, of Mushili Bonano, Ndola, and arrested her. A docket has been opened.

Police reminded the public, including content creators, "to exercise responsibility when posting or sharing content online." They said investigations are continuing and that "further details will be provided as investigations progress."
