Muchinga Stakeholders Demand Inclusive Constituency Delimitation.
Stakeholders in Muchinga Province have called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to ensure that all districts are considered in the ongoing constituency delimitation exercise, citing the need for fair representation and balanced development.
Speaking during a provincial delimitation sitting in Chinsali, Nakonde District Electoral Officer Donald Mwanza stressed the importance of inclusivity in the process. “This will help ensure equal distribution of resources, effective representation, and improved access to economic development,” Mr. Mwanza said.
Mr. Mwanza further noted that Nakonde District, which has the largest population in the province, requires urgent attention in the delimitation exercise. “Nakonde needs delimitation to enhance representation and adequately serve its growing population,” he added.
Meanwhile, Provincial Electoral Officer Adam Jere revealed that all eight districts in Muchinga Province are currently represented by only one constituency each. “All the eight districts in the province have only one constituency, which underscores the need for delimitation to reflect population and development needs,” Mr. Jere said.
