Missing Katete Man Confirmed Dead Following Chongwe Accident

A 24-year-old man from Chibolya Compound in Katete District who was reported missing over the weekend has been confirmed dead following a road traffic accident in Chongwe.

Lameck Phiri left Katete on Friday at around 18:00 hours to attend a funeral in Chongwe for the father of his friend, Derrick from Petauke. His last contact with family was through text messages on Saturday at about 13:00 hours when he said he was in Chinyunyu.

Concerns arose after relatives discovered that he had not reached the funeral house and had not been seen by family members in Lusaka, prompting a public appeal for information on his whereabouts.

His brother, Davison Phiri, has since confirmed that Lameck was among the victims who were burnt following a head-on collision in Chongwe.
