Lusaka Provincial Officer Commends CDF Projects in Matero

Lusaka Provincial Local Government Officer, Charlston Hamulyata, has praised the successful implementation of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects in Matero Constituency, describing them as a direct response to community needs.
Mr. Hamulyata, who led a team of Lusaka City Council (LCC) CDF monitoring officers on a project inspection tour, said the decentralised fund has become a game-changer for local development, as communities now play a central role in identifying priority projects.
He noted that Matero has seen tangible progress through CDF initiatives, including infrastructure upgrades, water and sanitation facilities, road rehabilitation, and skills training centres.
Among the projects visited were the Kapwepwe Maternity Block, new classroom blocks at Desai Primary and Chitanda Schools, a vegetable shelter at Mwamba Luchembe Market, and an ablution block at Edwin Mulongoti School.
Mr. Hamulyata further urged young people to take advantage of the skills development component of the fund, encouraging them to apply for training that would empower them to start their own businesses.
“This initiative aligns with the government’s vision of equipping citizens with skills that enable them to generate income rather than wait for employment,” he said.
Earlier this year, Mr. Hamulyata approved K17.6 million for 2025 CDF projects in Matero Constituency, targeted at improving public infrastructure and service delivery.
The LCC team assured residents that all projects will be delivered to high quality standards and within set timelines, reaffirming government’s commitment to improving education, healthcare, security, and other essential services in the constituency.
