KCM SETS TO CONDUCT FIRST BLAST UNDER KDMP.
 
Konkola copper mines is set to conduct it's first mining blast at the 1389 metre-level under the Konkola deep mining project, marking a major milestone in unlocking one of the world's richest copper ore bodies.
 
The development comes as KCM continues to advance it's mine revitalization programme, with the project projected to exceed 700 million US dollars in investment. Key works include large scale underground rail system to improve efficiency.The company is also introducing modern automated raise-boring machines to enhance safety, precision and productivity. 
 
KCM chief Corporate affairs officer Dr John Kuanda says the first blast is a defining moment for both the mine and the country symbolising renewed investor confidence and technological advancements.
