HH and Botswana President to Launch Kazungula Bridge Authority

The launch follows years of bilateral discussions, culminating in an agreement that the authority will be based in Botswana, while the Chief Executive Officer will come from Zambia.

This milestone reinforces the commitment both leaders made during the inaugural session of the Botswana-Zambia Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Lusaka last year, where they emphasized the importance of making the authority fully operational.

Tiro Kganela, Chief Public Relations Officer at Botswana’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, explained that the Kazungula Bridge Authority will oversee operations at the Kazungula One Stop Border Post (OSBP). He added that the initiative is expected to enhance the competitiveness of both countries in investment and trade.

“The Kazungula OSBP is a preferred hub for travellers and truckers conducting business across the SADC region,” Mr. Kganela said, noting that the authority will create greater opportunities for Botswana, Zambia, and the wider region.
