Clinical Officers Association Clarifies Assault Incident Involving Ndola Teaching Hospital Employee

The Clinical Officers Association of Zambia has issued a statement clarifying that the individual involved in a recent assault on a police officer in Ndola is not a Clinical Officer, despite being an employee of the Ministry of Health.

‎According to Dr. Musonda Kamfwa, Secretary General of the Clinical Officers Association of Zambia, the association has conducted internal and external verification and confirmed that the individual is not a member of the association.

‎The association has condemned the violence, stating that it is unacceptable and contrary to professional ethics. "Actions of this nature constitute professional misconduct under Section 66 of the Health Professions Act No. 17 of 2024," Dr. Kamfwa said.

‎The incident has sparked widespread attention, with the police confirming the arrest of the suspect, Emmanuel Njovu, 32, who is charged with assaulting a police officer.

‎The Clinical Officers Association of Zambia has reiterated its commitment to promoting professionalism and accountability among its members, and assures the public that it will work closely with relevant authorities to maintain standards in the health sector.
