KATETE MAN LOSES EYE AFTER ALLEGED ASSAULT BY WIFE.

A 26-year-old man of Ibex Compound in Katete District has lost his left eye following an alleged assault by his wife during a domestic dispute. The incident is believed to have occurred on Sunday, April 5, 2026, around 20:00 hours.

The victim, identified as Jasel Mwanza, reported the matter the following morning at St. Francis Police Post. According to police reports, Mwanza was allegedly assaulted by his wife, Rabbeca Sakala, also aged 26, who is said to have struck him on the left eye using a stone, causing severe bleeding.

The incident occurred when Mwanza returned home around 18:00 hours before later going out with a friend. During his outing, his wife is said to have made several phone calls to him. Upon his return around 20:00 hours, his wife allegedly accused him of being with another woman, which led to a heated argument, during which she is believed to have picked up a stone and struck him in the eye.

Despite sustaining the injury, Mwanza managed to get home, where he informed his father and was later taken to the police post. A medical report form was subsequently issued, and he was later admitted to St. Francis Hospital, where doctors removed his left eye. The suspect has since been arrested, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
