MANHUNT UNDERWAY AFTER NAMWALA WOMAN ALLEGEDLY GANG RAPED

Police in Southern Province have launched a manhunt for two men after a 34-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped in front of her 12-year-old child in Namwala.

Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo said the incident happened in Chibunze area on Tuesday night, August 11, 2026. He said the suspects, who are known to the victim, allegedly forced their way into the house and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene.

Mr. Namalongo said police have opened a docket and are pursuing leads to apprehend the suspects. He has appealed to members of the public with information to assist the police.

The victim has been taken to hospital for medical examination, while the child is receiving counselling following the incident.
