Chief Tembwe Commends Government's Cash for Work Initiative

Chief Tembwe of the Senga-speaking community in Chama District, Eastern Province, has expressed appreciation for the government's Cash for Work (CFW) programme, citing the positive impact it has had on development projects within his chiefdom.

‎He highlighted that, beyond cleaning public areas, the initiative has enabled the molding of approximately 70,000 bricks, which are being used in the construction of essential infrastructure such as staff houses, healthcare facilities, and a storage unit.

‎According to Chief Tembwe, the chiefdom has embraced the CFW programme with commitment, ensuring that the projects it supports are both meaningful and sustainable.

He also pointed to the successful maintenance of roads and the enhancement of crossing points as further examples of the programme’s benefits.

‎The Chief noted that widespread participation in the initiative has contributed to an improved quality of life for many local residents.

‎Echoing these sentiments, Mabinga Ward Councilor Lameck Zimba emphasized that the CFW programme has significantly uplifted living standards in the area.
