ZCSA Seizes Unsafe Products Worth K30,000 in Four Provinces

The Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) has seized over 1,000 non-compliant products valued at approximately K30,000 in North-Western, Luapula, Northern, and Muchinga provinces.

ZCSA spokesperson Brian Hatyoka said the items, including cooking oil, detergents, and electrical goods, were expired, damaged, poorly labeled, or not registered with the Agency.

Mr. Hatyoka stated that the Agency is intensifying enforcement through market inspections and public awareness campaigns.

He warned that suppliers of unsafe goods will face penalties due to the risks posed to consumer health and safety.

Mr. Hatyoka revealed that some seized items will be destroyed, while others will be corrected, and the public is urged to report suspicious products to ZCSA.
