ZRA INTERCEPTS SEVEN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS HIDDEN IN TRANSIT VEHICLE

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has intercepted seven illegal immigrants of Somali origin who were concealed in a transit vehicle travelling to Zimbabwe.

The discovery was made during a routine enforcement operation in Kapiri Mposhi, where officers stopped a Toyota Probox heading to Chirundu One Stop Border Post. The individuals were found hidden beneath bags of rice and other goods in the rear cargo compartment.

The driver and the seven immigrants have since been handed over to the Department of Immigration for profiling and legal processing. ZRA has urged importers and travellers to comply with customs laws, warning that violations will attract enforcement action.
