GOVERNMENT CALLS FOR STRICT OBSERVANCE OF THE CYBER CRIMES ACT

The Zambian Government has called on citizens and public servants to strictly observe the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025, saying the law is key to protecting privacy, strengthening cybersecurity and promoting the responsible use of digital technologies.

Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana said Government is concerned about the growing misuse of digital platforms through the unauthorised recording, publication and sharing of private conversations and meetings without the consent of those involved. He said such actions may constitute an offence under the law.

Mr. Kawana has urged citizens to understand and comply with the Cyber Crimes Act, warning that anyone found violating the law will face legal consequences. He said the Government remains committed to protecting citizens’ rights and promoting responsible digital conduct.
