HH DECLARES FIVE DAYS OF NATIONAL MOURNING FOR DR. GUY SCOTT

President Hakainde Hichilema has declared a five-day period of National Mourning in honour of former Vice President Dr. Guy Lindsay Scott, who died on 15 July 2026.

According to a statement issued by Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa, the mourning period will run from Thursday, 16 July to Monday, 20 July 2026, with national flags flying at half-mast daily from 06:00 to 18:00 hours.

The late Dr. Scott will be accorded a State Funeral, with a church service scheduled for 10:00 hours on Monday, 20 July, at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka. He will later be laid to rest at Leopards Hill Memorial Park.

Funeral gatherings will be held at Belvedere Lodge along Leopards Hill Road in Kabulonga.

Government has called on Zambians to join in honouring the late statesman and reflecting on his contribution to the nation’s development during the mourning period.
