PRESIDENT HICHILEMA PROMISES FASTER MAIZE PAYMENTS TO FARMERS
President Hakainde Hichilema has assured farmers that the Government will begin buying maize only after it has properly dried and will make payments within a few days of delivery.
Speaking during a community engagement in Mpika District, Muchinga Province, the President said digital payment systems will help farmers receive their money quickly.
The President said the Government remains committed to strengthening agriculture by improving access to farming inputs, expanding irrigation and water conservation projects, and increasing support through fertiliser programmes. He added that these measures will help boost food production.
President Hichilema also pledged to rehabilitate feeder roads, complete the Mpika bus station, build more classrooms, expand bursaries and skills training, recruit more teachers, medical personnel and agricultural officers, and improve telecommunications and the school feeding programme.
