Women in Kalulushi Succeed as Cabbage Farmers Thanks to CDF Funding.

In Kalulushi, a group of women is achieving economic independence through cabbage farming, powered by funding from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). Kilunaba Multi-Purpose Cooperative, primarily comprising women, received a significant boost with a K40,000 grant from the Kalulushi Municipal Council's CDF allocation. This financial injection enabled them to acquire essential equipment and inputs, facilitating the commencement of their cabbage farming venture. With determination and hard work, the cooperative has transformed this initial investment into a sustainable source of income. Buoyed by their success, they now aspire to expand their agricultural pursuits by scaling up cabbage cultivation and diversifying into other crop varieties. Christina Kampamba, the cooperative's chairperson, expressed gratitude to the government for the CDF provision, emphasizing its role in empowering local communities to shape their own futures. She encourages fellow women, in particular, to explore opportunities in agriculture as a means of livelihood. The success story of Kilunaba Multi-Purpose Cooperative underscores the transformative impact of targeted funding initiatives in fostering entrepreneurship and self-reliance within communities.
