USA Hails Zambia’s Peaceful Elections.

Executive Director to the United States Air Force Deputy Under Secretary for International Affairs Eugene Park said the US was proud of Zambia for conducting peaceful elections.

Mr Park said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Ministry of Defence , where he described Zambia as a priority country for the United States.

“Zambia is a priority country for the United States. We have had over 60 years of bilateral relations. We are ready to work with you and support the modernisation of the Zambian military,” said Mr Park.

He also commended Zambia for taking a leading role in international military engagements, particularly through hosting the Africa Land Forces Summit in 2024 and the African Air Chiefs Symposium in 2026.

And Ministry of Defence Acting Permanent Secretary Milicent Mwenda said defence and security cooperation between Zambia and the United States was growing every year.

Mrs Mwenda said Zambian military personnel had also had opportunities to train in the United States.

“We wish to thank the American government for the various infrastructure they recently handed over at the Kenneth Kaunda Peace Training Centre in Lusaka. That infrastructure cost millions of dollars and we appreciate so much,” she said.
