ZCCM-IH Targets 9000 Trees In Nationwide Sustainability Drive

ZCCM Investment Holdings (ZCCM-IH)has announced plans to plant 9000 trees across Zambia in 2026 as part of it's environmental sustainability programme.

The company has already planted 1,000 trees in 9 schools in Chief Chibwika's area of Mwinilunga District in Northwestern Province.The exercise was conducted this week in partnership with local traditional leaders and schools.

ZCCM-IH Head of Risk , Mwaka Mwamulima, said  the initiative aims to promote environmental conservation and educate learners on climate change.

"This tree planting programme is part of our long term commitment to environmental Sustainability and biodiversity protection,"Ms  Mwamulima said."We are deliberately working with schools to empower pupils with Knowledge on climate change, afforestation and sustainable practices."

She added that the company will continue working with communities and traditional leaders to ensure the success of the project.

Meanwhile, Chief Chibwika praised the initiative, describing it as timely and beneficial to the chiefdom.
