TWO WOMEN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY INSULTING HICHILEMA

Police in Nyimba District have arrested two women for allegedly insulting President-elect Hakainde Hichilema and his supporters in a video circulating on social media.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba identified the suspects as Rosemary Tembo, 29, and Afelida Tembo, 32, both of Masangano Village in Chief Ndake’s area. He said a third suspect, identified as Aselida, is still at large.

Mr. Mweemba says the suspects claimed during interviews that they committed the offence while drunk. He added that the two women will be transferred to Chipata Central Police Station for further processing and are expected to appear in court on charges of hate speech and insults.
