Two Siblings Detained Over Murder of Cousin Found in Chibombo

Police in Lusaka have detained two siblings, aged 18 and 15, in connection with the alleged murder of their 22-year-old cousin, Susan Zulu.

Police Spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi said the case began as a report of unlawful use of a vehicle belonging to the siblings' parents — a silver Toyota Axio — on September 17.

According to Chilabi, the vehicle was involved in two accidents, including a hit-and-run in Madras that left an 8-year-old boy critically injured; the child remains admitted at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).

Chilabi said the siblings abandoned the vehicle along Lumumba Road and returned home on September 21 without their cousin.

He added that information obtained from the two led police to Mungule in Chibombo District, where a female body believed to be Susan Zulu's was recovered. The body has been taken to the UTH mortuary pending a post-mortem examination, while the siblings remain in police custody.
