SON ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY MURDERING FATHER.
A 33-year-old man of Choobe Village in Monze’s Ufwenuka Chiefdom has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 67-year-old father, with the help of a friend. The deceased, Charles Choobe, was reportedly last seen on 28th February 2026 between 20:00 and 22:00 hours while heading home. His son, Fanwell Choobe, 33, is the main suspect in the case.
Later that night, around 22:00 hours, the deceased’s wife, 48-year-old Ireen Munyati, said she saw Fanwell taking a piece of wood from her house before leaving. She became concerned when her husband did not return home.
The body was later discovered by a local resident approximately 10 metres from Fanwell’s house, with a piece of wood and an axe found nearby. Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Moono Namalongo, said officers observed multiple injuries on the deceased, including deep cuts to the head, chin, forehead, and left ear.
Fanwell allegedly led police to his suspected accomplice, 51-year-old Franaly Mupale. Both suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
