RIOTS BREAK OUT AT UNZA

Riots have broken out at the country’s highest learning institution, the University of Zambia, with the Great East Road now shut to public use. The students stormed the roadside to pounce of innocent members of the public.
Reports gathered so far indicate the students are pressing government to resolve their stand-off with lecturers. The lecturers are holding on to results for the last semester demanding better conditions of service.
A heavy presence of police has since arrived at the scene to quell the protests. Motorists using Great East from areas such as Munali, Kaunda Square, Chainama, PHI, Chelstone, Avodale, Airport and Meanwood are advised to use alternative routes.
The road between Munali roundabaout and Arcades roundabout are still closed.
