President Hichilema Begins One-Day Visit to North-Western Province

President Hakainde Hichilema has arrived in Solwezi, North-Western Province, for a one-day official visit.
The presidential aircraft landed at Solwezi Airport precisely at 10:00 hours.
Accompanying the Head of State are Defence Minister Ambrose Lufuma, Political Advisor Levy Ngoma, and other senior officials from both government and the ruling party.
Upon arrival, President Hichilema was received by North-Western Province Minister Robert Lihefu, Labour and Social Security Minister Brenda Tambatamba, and Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwimbu.
Also present to welcome him were Energy Minister Peter Kapala, Green Economy and Environment Minister Mike Mposha, and various senior government and party leaders.
During the visit, the President is scheduled to officially launch the Kansanshi Mine Sulphide Three (S3) project a $1.25 billion copper production expansion initiative.
The project aims to boost annual copper output from 150,000 to 250,000 metric tonnes and extend the mine’s operational lifespan by two decades.
Additionally, the investment is projected to generate over 1,600 jobs, with 800 of them being permanent roles.
President Hichilema is expected to return to Lusaka after completing his official engagements later today.
