CBU Medical Student Confirmed Dead After Remains Found Near Hillcrest Clinic

The Copperbelt University (CBU) School of Medicine has been thrown into mourning following the confirmation that human remains discovered near Hillcrest Clinic belong to Fred Kapuku, a final-year MBChB student who had been missing for several days. His identity was verified after classmates and the student union traced the case to the mortuary.

‎Police and forensic teams have since launched investigations into the gruesome incident, urging the public to provide any information that may help in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

‎Kapuku was described by colleagues as a humble and soft-spoken leader, deeply involved in student politics and at the time of his death serving as President of the Copperbelt University Medical Students’ Association (COBUMEDSA).

‎The student union condemned the killing as “brutal and barbaric,” stressing the need for justice, while funeral and memorial details are expected to be announced in due course.
