Police Appeal for Relatives in Suspected Murder of Woman in Kabwata

Police are appealing for public assistance in tracing the family of F/Sipiwe Nyirenda, who was brought in dead to the University Teaching Hospital on June 10, 2025, by her boyfriend, Maybin Muliye, now in custody.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says preliminary investigations reveal the deceased was a divorced mother of two from Kafue who had recently relocated to John Leigh area in Lusaka.

Mr Hamoonga says she began cohabiting with Muliye shortly before her death, which occurred on the sixth day of their living together under suspicious circumstances.

He has urged anyone with information about her family or background to report to Kabwata Police Station to help identify the next of kin.

Mr Hamoonga says the body remains at UTH mortuary and burial arrangements are on hold until the family is located.
