Mutharika Sworn In as Malawi’s Seventh President, Declares End to Corruption.

Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has been sworn in as the seventh President of the Republic of Malawi, with Justice Dr. Jane Ansah taking the oath as Vice President at a colorful ceremony held at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday.
In his inaugural address, President Mutharika declared that the “honeymoon of plundering government resources is over,” pledging that his administration under the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) would restore integrity, discipline, and efficiency in public service.
“Malawi belongs to all of us, regardless of political, cultural, or religious background. So, if anyone acts to the contrary, I will go after him or her. Never say I never warned you,” Mutharika warned in his address.
The President acknowledged the country’s economic and social challenges, including food shortages and a lack of foreign exchange, urging Malawians to embrace patience, discipline, and hard work to rebuild the nation. He promised to embark on a transformative agenda aimed at national recovery and progress.
Mutharika also extended an invitation to international investors, assuring them of a conducive environment for business and investment to uplift the living standards of Malawians.
Vice President Dr. Jane Ansah hailed Mutharika as a visionary and committed leader dedicated to peace, unity, and prosperity. She expressed gratitude to God for granting the nation another opportunity to benefit from his leadership.
The inauguration was attended by several dignitaries, including former Malawian Presidents Joyce Banda and Bakili Muluzi; Mozambican President Daniel Chapo; Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa; Tanzania’s Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa; and ministers from Angola, Namibia, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
With the new administration in place, Malawians now await the fulfillment of President Mutharika’s pledge to restore integrity, rebuild the economy, and usher in a new era of national progress.
