Apple Unveils iPhone 18 Series As Global Pre-Orders Open Saturday
Technology giant Apple has officially introduced its latest flagship smartphones, unveiling the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max during a major launch event held in Cupertino, California.
The new devices come with upgraded camera technology, improved performance, enhanced battery life and artificial intelligence features powered by Apple’s latest A20 Pro chip. Apple says the new Pro lineup represents a major advancement in areas that matter most to users, including photography, speed and overall device experience.
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak, said the company focused on delivering significant improvements rather than minor upgrades.
“With iPhone 18 Pro, we’ve made advancements in the areas our users care about most: camera, performance, battery, and intelligence. And we didn’t just make incremental improvements in these areas — we took huge leaps forward to create the best Pro iPhone we’ve ever made,” Joswiak said.
He added that the new camera system gives users more creative control, especially content creators and professionals who rely on smartphones for photography and video production.
“iPhone 18 Pro makes it easy for anyone to capture stunning photos and videos using variable aperture, while providing more versatility for creators and more control for pros,” Joswiak said.
The latest models feature Apple’s most advanced iPhone camera system, including a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, improved battery performance and new artificial intelligence capabilities through Apple Intelligence and Siri AI.
The launch has attracted attention from technology enthusiasts globally, including users in Zambia, where premium smartphones continue to gain popularity among young professionals, content creators and business users.
However, reactions remain mixed, with some consumers interested in upgrading for better performance, camera quality and productivity, while others question whether upgrading is necessary for users with recent models.
The release is also expected to affect prices of previous devices, including the iPhone 17 and iPhone 16 series, as retailers adjust their stock following the arrival of the new generation.
Apple confirmed that global pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will begin on Saturday, September 12, 2026, with retail availability starting Friday, September 18, 2026.
Local pricing and availability for Zambian consumers are expected to be announced by authorised regional dealers following the global rollout.
