Mutale Mwanza Awaits DPP Decision in Cyber Harassment Case

Journalist and media personality Mutale Mwanza has appeared before the Lusaka Magistrate’s Court, where a decision is expected from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on whether her cyber harassment case will be withdrawn. Mwanza is charged in a matter brought by fellow media personality Daisy Lusumpa, popularly known as Chichi Daisy.

The court is set to determine whether DPP Gilbert Phiri has approved the application to withdraw the case, which was filed by lawyers representing the complainant. The application was made during the previous court session at the DPP’s office.

If the application is accepted, Mwanza, also known as M-Nation, will be freed, possibly under certain conditions. However, if the DPP declines the request, the case will proceed to trial, with the State expected to present more witnesses.

Mwanza is accused of using her Facebook page, M-Nation, on November 7, 2024, to allegedly intimidate, harass, or cause emotional distress to Chichi Daisy. Both parties were present in court, with Mwanza appearing calm while consulting her lawyer, as proceedings continue.
