MAN, 23, ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY DEFILING AND INFECTING 12-YEAR-OLD SISTER WITH STI

A 23-year-old man of Mporokoso has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 12-year-old biological sister and infecting her with a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Luapula Province Commanding Officer Simunji Mulonda said the matter was reported to police around 16:20 hours on April 10, 2026.

Mr Mulonda explained that the alleged abuse is believed to have occurred on unknown dates between January 1 and January 4 this year in Chandamali Village, Mporokoso District. The case came to light after the victim’s 50-year-old mother reported that her daughter had been sexually abused by her own brother.

According to Mr Mulonda, the mother first noticed in March that her daughter had developed rashes all over her body and took her to a nearby clinic where she received treatment and later improved. However, weeks later, the girl complained of itching in her private parts, and upon checking, the mother discovered sores, prompting another visit to Mporokoso Clinic.

Medical examinations confirmed that the victim had contracted an STI. Initially, the victim denied any sexual contact when questioned by health personnel, but later disclosed to police that she had been abused by her older brother on three separate occasions. The suspect has since been arrested and is expected to appear in court soon.
