Lusaka City Council Announces 23 Youth-Led Organizations to Receive Bloomberg Philanthropies Climate Microgrants

LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – April 13, 2025

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has unveiled a list of 23 youth-led organizations selected to receive microgrants through the Youth Climate Action Fund, an initiative supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies. This program aims to empower young changemakers aged 15 to 24 to implement innovative climate solutions within their communities.

The selected organizations, chosen from a pool of 86 applicants, will receive grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. These funds are designated for projects such as community gardens, recycling programs, green transportation initiatives, and climate resilience workshops. The initiative underscores LCC's commitment to fostering youth engagement in climate action and sustainable development.

All successful applicants will be contacted to provide the required documentation. The LCC encourages those who were not selected to remain engaged, as more opportunities will be available in the future.

This initiative is part of Bloomberg Philanthropies' broader effort to support youth-led climate action in cities worldwide. Each participating city receives funding to distribute as microgrants, fostering a groundswell of youth-driven climate initiatives that address local environmental challenges.
