LCC REHABILITATES ABLUTION BLOCKS AT NEW SOWETO MARKET

The Lusaka City Council has completed the rehabilitation of three ablution blocks at New Soweto Market at a cost of K592,557. The project was financed using the Council's own source revenue as part of its capital projects programme.

New Soweto Market, which has more than 9,000 traders, required improved sanitation facilities to provide a clean, safe and conducive environment for traders and members of the public. The Council says the rehabilitation forms part of efforts to improve public health, enhance the trading environment and prevent sanitation-related diseases. Kabwata Market has also benefited from the rehabilitation of ablution blocks under the same programme.

Lusaka City Council says it remains committed to upgrading sanitation infrastructure in markets and trading areas across the city to ensure a clean, healthy and dignified environment for traders and the public.
