KABWE RANGERS FC BUS CRASH LEAVES DRIVER DEAD, FIVE INJURED.

A bus carrying players and officials from Kabwe Rangers Football Club was involved in a fatal road accident on Sunday, March 16, leaving the driver dead and five others injured.

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Central Province confirmed the incident in a statement issued by provincial chairperson Chisanga Pule. He identified the deceased as the hired bus driver, Sam Lungu.

Mr Pule explained that the team had travelled to Serenje to play a Week 25 Division Two Zone B fixture against Silverlands Football Club when the accident occurred.

The injured include players Christopher Musakanya, Given Sichamba, and John Kombe, along with coach Lewis Nkandu and club secretary Karen Namukoko.

Mr Pule added that he, together with FAZ Central Province General Secretary Maxwell Shaba, rushed to the scene of the accident before visiting the injured at Kapiri Mposhi District Hospital.

He conveyed condolences to the family of the deceased driver and wished the injured players and officials a speedy recovery. Police are expected to provide further details on the cause of the accident.
