Judge Warns State and Defense Against Unnecessary Trial Delays

Lusaka High Court Judge Vincent Siloka has warned both the state and defense against unnecessary trial delays in the murder case of former Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) Director General, Guntila Muleya.

The case involves four accused individuals: two police officers, Mthusani Dokowe and Alex Zulu, Mthusani's brother Samuel Dokowe, and accountant Francis Chipyoka. They are alleged to have jointly murdered Muleya on July 23, 2024.

The state had requested an adjournment, citing unreadiness to proceed, which was granted by Judge Siloka. The matter has been adjourned to May 5, 2025, for commencement of trial.

Judge Siloka emphasized that both parties must be prepared for the trial and warned against unnecessary applications for adjournment. He also noted that the defense had seemingly abandoned their application for Samuel Dokowe to undergo a medical examination.

The trial is expected to proceed on May 5, 2025, with both parties expected to be fully prepared.
