Jason Derulo Lands in Zambia Ahead of Stanbic Music Festival

American singer, songwriter and dancer Jason Derulo is in Zambia to headline the Stanbic Music Festival on September 3rd, 2026. Government and industry leaders say the event will boost music, tourism and opportunities for young creatives.

Speaking at a media briefing, Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe said the festival reflects the country's growing creative potential. "The creative sector goes beyond performance," he said, pointing to openings in production, event management, content creation, technology, marketing and entrepreneurship. He added that major cultural events create business for hotels, restaurants, transport providers and vendors.

Tourism Permanent Secretary Evans Muhanga said the festival supports efforts to attract international visitors. "People travelling to attend major events also spend on accommodation, food, transport and other services," he said.

Stanbic Bank Zambia CEO Mwindwa Siakalima called the festival "an investment in people, businesses and the future of the creative industry." He said Zambia's place on the Last Dance World Tour shows it can host international entertainment events. He also disclosed that the festival's tree-planting initiative, which plants one tree per ticket sold, has produced about 45,000 trees so far, with 15,000 more expected this year.

National Arts Council Vice Board Chairperson Tivo Shikapwasha said Derulo's participation lets Zambian artists "learn from an internationally established performer" while showcasing local music and culture.

Derulo thanked Zambians for the warm welcome. He said he was excited to conclude his tour in Zambia and promised fans "a major celebration."
