Kachenga Faith Mukonko to Represent Zambia at Miss International

Zambia is set to return to the Miss International stage, with Kachenga Faith Mukonko appointed to represent the country at the 64th Miss International Beauty Pageant, scheduled to take place in Tokyo, Japan, this November.

‎The Miss International Beauty Pageant is one of the major international beauty competitions, bringing together representatives from different countries around the world. Established in 1960, the pageant goes beyond beauty and focuses on promoting international friendship, cultural understanding, goodwill and cooperation among nations.

‎The competition also provides contestants with an opportunity to introduce their countries to an international audience through their culture, traditions, values and individual stories. For the participating nations, the pageant serves as a platform for cultural exchange while giving young women an opportunity to represent their countries on a global stage.

‎For Zambia, Kachenga’s appointment marks the country’s return to Miss International after its last participation in 2019, when Luwi Kawanda represented Zambia at the pageant in Tokyo. Her participation this year therefore brings Zambia back into the international competition after a seven-year absence.

‎Kachenga’s appointment comes after several years of experience in modelling and pageantry. Her journey includes being crowned Miss Heritage Zambia after representing the Copperbelt Province. She later represented Zambia at Miss Culture Worldwide, where she emerged as first runner-up, giving her experience representing the country on an international platform.

‎She has also contested in the Big Five pageant, further expanding her experience in international pageantry. In 2022, Kachenga won the Miss My Hometown Zambia title, adding another achievement to her modelling and pageantry career.

‎Her appointment to Miss International now opens a new chapter in her journey. While she has only recently been appointed as Zambia’s representative, her previous experience in modelling and pageantry gives her a foundation as she begins preparations for the competition in Japan.

‎Kachenga’s participation is also an opportunity for Zambia to showcase its culture, beauty and identity to an international audience. As she prepares to compete alongside representatives from different countries, attention will be on how she carries the Zambian identity and represents the country on one of the world’s established international pageantry platforms.

‎The 64th Miss International Beauty Pageant is scheduled for 25 November 2026 at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Kachenga Faith Mukonko will carry the Zambian flag to the competition, with the country looking forward to her representation on the international stage.
