MAMA G IS IN ZAMBIA AHEAD OF ‘FAMILY AFFAIRS’ PRODUCTION
Renowned Nollywood veteran Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, is in Lusaka ahead of the highly anticipated film Family Affairs, sparking excitement across Zambia’s growing film industry.
The celebrated actress was warmly received at the airport by Zambian filmmaker David Kazadi, whose production company is spearheading the project in collaboration with Basali Media.
Speaking during a press briefing, Ozokwor emphasized the need for professionalism and structure within the acting industry. She highlighted the importance of forming strong associations to safeguard actors’ rights, noting that without proper representation, many performers risk exploitation and undervaluation.
“Preparation starts from the film house before they bring us as actors. Have a script conference and understand your role,” she said. “Forget everything else. When you are on set, they want you to perform—so prepare yourself. Acting is not something you should get distracted from.”
Ozokwor stressed that acting is more than just talent—it requires discipline, focus, and collaboration. According to her, successful productions depend on a well-coordinated team, where both actors and crew members are aligned in delivering quality results.
She further encouraged Zambian actors to establish a unified body that can advocate for their welfare and professional standards, describing such a move as critical to the industry’s growth.
Addressing the balance between passion and business in acting, Mama G noted that while passion drives creativity, commitment and teamwork are essential in turning artistic vision into reality.
The upcoming film Family Affairs, produced by Kazadi Films in partnership with Basali Media, has already generated high expectations. Kazadi expressed optimism about the project’s international potential, even suggesting it could position Zambia for future recognition on the global stage.
“With this film, this might be how Zambia wins an Oscar, God willing,” he said.
As anticipation builds, Family Affairs is poised to become a landmark production, bringing together regional talent and elevating Zambia’s presence in the global film industry.
