Government Urges Modelling Sector to Formalise, Offers Support.

The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts has called on Zambia's modelling industry to organise itself formally so models can engage Government and help grow the creative sector.

Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe made the call this morning when Miss World Zambia, Dr. Adah Mushibi, and Miss Universe Zambia, Ms. Mubanga Hatyoka, paid him a courtesy visit. Both are under ARM Model Management Zambia, and they were accompanied by their coordinator, Ms. Irene Changwa.

Dr. Mushibi recently finished in the top 12 at Miss World on 5th September 2026, placing among the top two contestants from Africa. Ms. Hatyoka will represent Zambia at the 75th Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico, travelling on 5th November 2026.

Mr. Chileshe said Government stands ready to back modelling as part of the wider creative sector.He stressed that the industry needs a properly organised association to represent models and engage Government.

"Such a body would make it easier for Government to support international engagements, much as it supports national teams like the Copper Queens," Mr Chileshe said.

He also proposed Memoranda of Understanding with relevant institutions to introduce creative industry and modelling training in schools. 

Mr. Chileshe added that a well-organised sector would give young people a clearer path into the creative industry.
