Japanese Delegation Explores Investment Opportunities In Zambia

A Japanese business delegation comprising 21 companies is in Zambia to explore investment opportunities in key sectors of the economy.

The delegation, led by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), is visiting the country to assess Zambia’s business environment and identify potential areas for partnership.

Zambia’s Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Tobias Mulimbika, said the visit follows up on President Hakainde Hichilema’s trip to Japan last year.

“This visit is a direct follow-up to President Hakainde Hichilema’s engagement with Japanese investors during his trip to Japan. It reflects the growing interest in Zambia as an investment destination,” Dr. Mulimbika said.

He explained that the delegation is focusing on mining, manufacturing and agriculture, in line with Zambia’s national development priorities.

JETRO delegation leader, Matoba Shintaro, said the purpose of the visit is to better understand Zambia’s business climate.

“Our aim is to assess Zambia’s business environment and identify key sectors where Japanese companies can invest,” Mr. Shintaro said.

He added that the delegation will tour various sectors and meet local companies to strengthen bilateral economic ties between Zambia and Japan.
