GOVERNMENT HANDS OVER 31 VEHICLES TO PROVINCIAL AND DISTRICT HEALTH OFFICES.
Acting Minister of Health Cornelius Mweetwa has officially handed over 31 motor vehicles worth K27,625,344.61 to provincial and district health institutions to strengthen service delivery across the country. The vehicles are expected to improve disease surveillance, outbreak response and programme supervision.
Mr. Mweetwa said the procurement, supported by the Global Fund under the Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health component, is a strategic investment aimed at improving operational capacity at provincial and district levels. He added that the allocation was based on identified needs to ensure resources are directed where they are most required.
Beneficiary institutions include the Laboratory Services Unit, National Malaria Elimination Centre, Zambia National Public Health Institute, National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA) and the University Teaching Hospital HIV Programme. The vehicles have been registered and insured and will be used strictly for public health operations.
