ISRAEL LAUNCHES NEW STRIKES ON TEHRAN AND BEIRUT AS REGIONAL TENSIONS ESCALATE.
The Israeli military has launched fresh air strikes on Tehran and Beirut, targeting what it described as military sites. Israel also announced that its ground troops would advance further into Lebanon to seize additional strategic areas in a bid to prevent attacks on Israeli border communities.
In a widening conflict, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was hit by two drones believed to have originated from Iran, causing a limited fire and minor damage. Iranian state media also reported that a command building at a US air base in Bahrain had been destroyed, though the United States has not issued an official response.
The escalation follows weekend strikes by the US and Israel that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has since launched retaliatory attacks across the region. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said “the hardest hits” on Iran were “yet to come,” while President Donald Trump described the war as the “last, best chance” to stop the Iranian regime.
