Immersive Tours, Phygital Games Mark Exciting Start to World Youth Festival Assembly

Nizhny Novgorod, Russia – September 19, 2025

The World Youth Festival (WYF) Assembly opened in Nizhny Novgorod with a vibrant first day that brought together 2,000 young leaders from 120 countries for a rich blend of culture, history, innovation, and sports.

Participants explored the historical and cultural heritage of Russia, visiting iconic landmarks such as the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street, and Strelka. They also enjoyed boat rides on the Volga River and immersive exhibitions including Atom. Future, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Russia’s nuclear industry, and the multimedia art space WORKSHOP.

“Nizhny Novgorod fascinated me with its beauty, coziness, and special spirit. I truly love Russia and this wonderful city,” said Shaaban Malak from Egypt, reflecting on the guided tours provided by the Guides of Meanings community.

A highlight of the day was the immersive show “Symphony of Time: Feel, Live, Create!” which transported participants through Russia’s historical eras — from ancient Rus to the USSR and into the 21st century. The show combined visual storytelling, music, and live performances to showcase Russia’s transformation.

“We felt as if we were in cosmic space. Such experiences are very important for foreign guests to connect with our culture and history,” said Diana Abdulkhairova, a participant from Crimea.

Nizhny Novgorod also became the capital of Phygital Games 2025, as participants witnessed intense competitions blending physical and digital sports, including phygital basketball and hockey. More than 400 athletes from 50+ Russian regions, as well as international players from Latvia and Mauritania, are taking part.

“I think it’s a great idea to combine the physical and digital space. I will watch the games with pleasure and get familiar with this new kind of sport,” said Khodor Hamdan, a participant from Lebanon.

Alongside the main program, 200 teenagers aged 14–17 engaged in activities promoting intercultural dialogue, teamwork, and creative collaboration. Each day focuses on values such as respect for diversity and global friendship, with participants developing international projects under the International Association of Children’s Organizations (IACO).

WYF-2025 Assembly is supported by major partners including the Russian Music Union, Russian Railways, Phygital Games, VK Technology Company, and Rossotrudnichestvo’s New Generation program. Media coverage is provided by RT, Argumenty i Fakty, African Initiative, and others.
