Hichilema Swears In Malaila as Deputy Auditor General

President Hakainde Hichilema on Thursday swore in Ms Patricia Malaila as Deputy Auditor General for the Audit Division, in a ceremony held at State House. During the event, the Head of State urged the newly sworn-in officer to remain firm and focused on deliverables while working in unison with others.

The President also stressed the importance of timely audits. "We also urged her to ensure that audits are completed on time, so that transparency and accountability in the management of public resources yield tangible results," he said.

President Hichilema further called for restraint in the use of public resources, including cuts to foreign travel. "We must put public resources to good use while remaining accountable, because that is what brought us to public office. This means fewer international trips and, where travel is necessary, smaller delegations limited to those with a role to play, so that public resources are saved and invested in sectors such as education, health and infrastructure," he said.
