From Nomads To Modern Arenas: National Sports As A Dialogue Tool

Moscow – September 2025
A National Sports venue promises to be one of the most vibrant highlights of the First World Public Assembly, where participants will gather for a dedicated panel session titled "National Sports as a Universal Tool for Creating an Integration Model of International Cooperation." Supported by the Committee on National and Non-Olympic Sports of Russia, this discussion positions sport as more than competition — it becomes a diplomatic and cultural bridge between nations.
The session will focus on the successful promotion of ethnic sports, highlighting the World Nomad Games and the World Games of Indigenous Peoples as powerful examples of cultural diplomacy.
“The World Nomad Games, established by Kyrgyzstan, have become a unique cultural and sporting event in the life of a vast region of Eurasia and the planet as a whole. In many ways, this phenomenal project embodies a truly Great Eurasian Partnership, adding events, bringing people together and uniting nations,” said Boris Grishin, President of the National Olympic Committee of Russia.
Special greetings will be sent by Khan Khalil Ahmed, President of the UNESCO International Council for Traditional Sports and Games (Pakistan). Among the key speakers are Boris Grishin and Mariano Justino Marcos Terena, founder of the World Games of the Indigenous Peoples of the World and leader of the indigenous peoples of Brazil. Terena has devoted his life to protecting indigenous rights, preserving cultural traditions, and fostering global dialogue.
The discussion will be moderated by Igor Pavlyuk, Vice-President of the Committee of National and Non-Olympic Sports of Russia, who actively champions cultural exchange and international cooperation through sports.
Participants of this session will prepare recommendations to be included in the final memorandum of the World Public Assembly, reinforcing the idea that sport can serve as a powerful tool for public diplomacy, cultural preservation, and international integration.
