Four Arrested in Mkushi Over K100,000 Corruption
Four people, including two Ministry of Education officers and two bank employees, have been arrested in Mkushi District, Central Province, for allegedly receiving K100,000 in corrupt payments linked to a government supply contract.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) confirmed the arrests through Acting Head of Corporate Communications Chisanga Chilufya
Ms. Chisanga identified the suspects as Patrick Nkhuwa, a Planning Officer, and Nakeempa Okello, an Accounts Assistant under the District Education Board Secretary’s office, together with bank employees Joseph Mwape and Dennis Baines.
She said the four allegedly facilitated the awarding of a goods supply contract worth over K1 million to Ichikwanka Multi-Purpose Cooperative between July 1 and December 31, 2025.
“Investigations established that the suspects received payments amounting to K100,000 as inducement in the awarding of the contract,” Ms. Chisanga said.
The suspects have since been arrested and are expected to appear in court soon, while the ACC says investigations into the matter continue.
