Farmers urged to diversify
District agricultural coordinator, Joseph Masuwa has implored on farmers to agriculture diversify.
In an interview recently Masuwa called on farmers to also consider venturing into fish farming and livestock production apart from crop production that has always been the case.
He said farmers sold take advantage of the escalating demand for fish countrywide and improve on their livelihood.
Masuwa said it was time fish farmers took fish farming seriously and yielded results that will grow the economy of the country.
He further added that venturing into fish farming will enable farmers to purchase farming inputs on time as farmers will not only wait for them to sale maize in order to have more money in their pockets.
He cited the unexploited potential in the livestock and fisheries sector in the district as one of the enterprise that can provide farmers a good and profitable farming business that will enable them to better their living standards schools.
Masuwa highlighted government efforts in improving the fisheries sector in kasempa district as timely. He said fish industry in a good source of proteins and can reduce poverty levels among the people in kasempa.
Masuwa has since called on residents in kasempa to take fish farming serious by forming co operatives
